Amazon - New Flat File

Ver el artículo en español.

Starting from January, the 31st 2019, Amazon will only accept values sent with the last flat file version.

Old flat files will no longer be accepted, so it is necessary to update your settings before this date to avoid unpublished products.

- Update from Amazon (04/03/2019) -

Amazon is migrating its merchants to new versions of the Price & Quantity and Listing Loader feeds, making feeds used in Lengow obsolete.

Amazon is not able to provide us with a list of affected clients, nor the timing of this operation.
So we invite you to:

  • contact your Amazon account manager to find out when your Price & Quantity and Listing Loader feeds will be concerned by this change.
  • regularly check error reports made available in your Lengow account ("Feed Management" > "Indexing History" > "Report" column). The following error will indicate you that it’s time to request to our Support the migration of your data to the new structures: "96012 Fatal You are using an older Category Template that is no longer accepted. Amazon has updated these templates and asks that you start using the new templates immediately."

Am I concerned by this evolution?

To know it, have a look in your Lengow account. A notification is present if one or more of your Amazon feeds require(s) the migration.

For each Amazon outdated feed, we have automatically created another feed that is deactivated by default.

Be aware that each new feed is inactive in your account, until you manually activate it.

How to do this migration ?

From Lengow side

We have automatically created a second Amazon feed (a new feed per universe and per country), for all feeds that require an evolution in your account.

All your optimisations have been duplicated from the outdated feeds to new ones:

  • "Fields Matching"
  • "Automatical Rules"
  • "Search/Replace"
  • "Options"
  • "Categories Matching"
  • "Segmentation"
  • Injected values

From your side

Please note that Amazon has:

  • added new fields to some new structures. These may be mandatory or optional to continue the display of your products. They are of course present in the structure made available to you in your Lengow account.
  • deleted some fields, which are therefore not visible in the new version
  • transferred some fields while renaming them.

Actions are therefore necessary on your side to ensure a transition maximizing the dissemination of your products as much as possible:

  1. Check duplicated settings
  2. Complete settings when necessary

A field of the old structure no longer exists on the new version?

  • Reason #1: This field exists in the new structure, it has been renamed by Amazon

With the help of the file below, please refer to the dedicated category and country feed.

Download "Amazon - Fields Matching per Category (2018)" file

  • The first column « Structure » indicates you the category of this matching.
  • In the second column « Nom champ ancienne structure » ("Field name in the previous structure"), search with the filter, the name of the field that you don't find in the new structure.
  • In the third column « Correspondance nouveau champ » ("New field name"), you'll find the new name of the field for the new structure.

Note: Amazon doesn't shared with us a correspondence file between the fields of the different versions of the Flat File. This correspondence has been made by us and is given for information only. Be sure to read the definition of the field in the new structure before making the necessary optimizations (matching, rule, ...).

  • Reason #2: This field doesn't exist anymore

This field isn't present in the listing that is available below? This means that this field doesn't exist anymore.

If you feel it is necessary for your product, contact Amazon about it.

Lengow Advice: Check your new optimized feed and check if all required fields are filled in. Check that the values available in this feed match Amazon's expectations.
To view the optimised feed, this new feed should be activated in your account (In the Marketplace tab > In the new feed box, select "Activate" in the drop-down menu, situated on the right side).
Deactivate this new feed once you've checked it, before you jump to the next step.

Last but not least, don't forget to apply in these new structures the optimizations you would have made since the creation of new feeds in your Lengow account.

I checked the settings, everything is ok. What is the next step ?

Case #1: You aren't using one of the Lengow plugins to import your orders

When you have checked the settings and the optimized feed matches your and Amazon's expectations:

  • Fill in your Amazon API login for the new feed (« Feed Management » > « API login» tab).
  • Click on the "Migrate orders" button for the new feed (« Feed Management » > « API login» tab). The feed id refers to the previous feed id and "orders" refers to the number of orders which will be migrated to this new feed. If this previous feed id is not correct or if the button remains grey, please contact the Lengow Support.
  • Deactivate the old feed in your account ( In the Marketplace tab > In the old feed box, select "Deactivate" in the drop-down menu, situated on the right side).
  • Activate the new feed in your account ( In the Marketplace tab > In the new feed box, select "Activate" in the drop-down menu, situated on the right side).

This way the new feed will instantly take over from the old one. Orders will go back to the new feed from that moment. If you use our API to process your orders and if developments have been made on your side remember to change the feed ID in the urls called depending on the feed ID.

  • Please, check the next error report to check the number of products that are online with the new feed. If necessary, adjust your settings.

Case #2: You're using one of the Lengow plugins to import your orders

When you have checked the settings and the optimized feed matches your and Amazon's expectations:

  • Fill in your Amazon API login for the new feed (« Feed Management » > « API login» tab).

Don't shift your orders from the old feed to the new feed (that's to say: don't click the "Migrate Orders" button in the new feed).

  • Activate the new feed in your account ( In the Marketplace tab > In the new feed box, select "Activate" in the drop-down menu, situated on the right side).
  • Keep the old feed with the "activate" status, the time to process all of your Amazon orders attached to this feed.
Starting from Friday, January 25th, new orders will only be imported in the new feed.

Respect these two points to prevent duplicate import orders via the Lengow plugin, for orders already imported via the old feed.

  • Please, check the next error report to check the number of products that are online with the new feed. If necessary, adjust your settings.

When to do this migration?

Right now! Don't wait to make this switch. For any questions, our team is at your disposal to assist you in this evolution.

What's the impact on my billing?

Adding this new feed to your Lengow account will of course have no impact on your billing.

This new feed won't be taken into account in your billing of January 2019.
From February 2019, this new feed'll be included in your billing. The former feed will be excluded, if it is well de-activated. In case your previous feed remains activated and is used to display your products on Amazon or for orders management, the feed'll remain taken into account in your billing.
