How to consult a csv/txt data feed?

When using the Lengow solution, it is essential to know your feed source and visualize the optimized feed, thus controlling your modifications. Data feeds in csv/txt format do not convert automatically. Below you will find the necessary information for formatting them.

1. Retrieving the URLS of your feed source and optimized feed

1.1 Feed source

  • You can retrieve your feed source in a marketplaces or ShopBot listing:

To retrieve the URL, right click and copy the link .

  • You can also retrieve it via the management feed, “Feed source” tab:

To retrieve the address, copy the URL.

1.2 Optimized feed

  • You can retrieve your optimized feed in a marketplaces or ShopBot listing:

To retrieve the URL, right click and copy the link .

  • You can also retrieve it via the management feed, “Feed source” tab:

To retrieve the address, copy the URL .

2. Opening a csv/txt data feed

To consult the data feed, you should carry out the manipulations, detailed below:

  • Open the URL in your navigator.

  • Using the mouse or shortcut Ctrl+A, select all the content and copy and paste it into your table (in the first Excel cell).
  • Then convert this data, so that the columns are recognised. Go to the “Data” tab > "Text to Columns", then convert it .

  • When the “Conversion Assistant” window opens, select “Delimited” .

  • Select the separator: tab, semicolon, comma, space or other. You will see the separator in Excel. For most optimized feeds, the separator is the “pipe” (“ | “, AltGr + 6) or the semi-colon
  • Then click on “Finish”.

Your optimized feed is now in Excel format. You can use all the functionalities of the table to consult your product catalogue (sorting, filtering, etc.).

Please Note: if the CSV delimiter is a tabulation (mainly for Amazon’s optimized feeds), you should first copy the content into a text editor (WordPad or Bloc Note) before copying it into Excel. This manipulation allows the deletion of formatting applied by your navigator in the content.

3. Opening an xml data feed

To open an xml feed, there are two options:

3.1 Solution 1

You can copy/paste the URL into your navigator that will do the formatting:

3.2 Solution 2

  • You can also open an xml via NotePad ++ or Xml Marker type software. First, copy/paste the URL of your feed.
  • Then go to File/Open and paste the address into the filename.
  • Your feed will then open in your chosen xml editor.
