There are three types of product record that can exist in your product catalogue.
- Parent records: the showcase records of your product reference. It does not contain any variations. It is not a tangible product – it cannot be purchased. A parent record can be attached to multiple child records.
- Child records: these are the products that can be purchased. The child record contains all the aspects that distinguish them from other child records. A child record is attached to one single parent record.
- Simple records: each simple record is completely independent from the rest of the catalogue. The product that it represents can be purchased.
More details on the different types of product records can be found in the ‘Generate your raw feed’ tutorial.
